Ailin's Food Diary
A French student's food journey became an accessible, human entry point into Hubei's local culture
Concept lead; contributor outreach; scripting, shoot coordination and editing
Context & challenge
At Hubei Media Group's international communication centre, the brief was to introduce local food culture through lived experience rather than exposition
The story needed to retain local specificity while remaining immediately legible to viewers unfamiliar with Hubei cuisine
Key insight
Questions, reactions and conversation made cultural explanation emerge naturally from the experience
Process
- 01
Framed the story around a first-person encounter with Hubei food
- 02
Invited a French student and translated cultural context into filmable prompts and moments
- 03
Coordinated script, field production and edit while keeping bilingual information and character rhythm clear
